COMMENTS
Radiohead - In Rainbows = These guys are so head and shoulders above everybody else that their "bonus disc" would likely make my Top 10. In terms of a cohesive album, overall quality and number of times played nothing came close to In Rainbows. And that's not even mentioning the genius of their release structure...
Amy Winehouse - Back to Black = When you listen to this record on its own or see Amy on stage you forget all the tabloid drama and simply remember how remarkably talented she is. I think it's funny that people try to downtalk this record because it relies so heavily on Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi's "retro" sound. Well, if it's so easy to imitate Motown why couldn't John Legend, Alicia Keys or a hundred other singers make it sound this good?
Peter, Bjorn and John - Writer's Block = These guys are the coolest nerds ever!
Kanye West - Graduation = I personally missed the lush orchestration of Late Registration and this is certainly not a strong effort lyrically, but was still the best hiphop had to offer because of Kanye's raw honesty and his willingness to push the boundaries of what hiphop music is.
Spoon - Ga Ga Ga = On album #4 these guys really seem to have perfected their signature sound and put forward their best effort yet. Contrary to popular belief, making an album full of cool, easy to listen to, even fun songs is not an easy thing to do and these guys do a very good job of making it sound like a breeze.
Blu & Exile - Below The Heavens = The raw hunger and creativity of youth shines through and sets this album apart from the many veterans turning out variations of the same record over and over again.
