Canada continues to boom abundantly; Rachel Unthank & the Winterset excavated the British floods from the North, and The Good, The Bad & The Queen did the same from the South; Britney raised the bar for pop, whatever or whoever else she may have raised; the multiplying Polar Bear/Acoustic Ladyland empire proves that McGregor and Tippett's work was not in vain; everyone from Amerie to Kylie (and from Bjork to MIA, whatever they might say) decided that smiling was the best policy for pop resuscitation, and those I haven't mentioned above, whether Tunng or Billy Jenkins, Most Serene Republic or Holyfuck, all provided an escape route towards the heart of a new life.
