COMMENTS
- Albums I liked the overall feel of enough to not worry that much about particular distinguishing features (like, y'know, songs): Idealism; Hyphy Hitz

- Albums that have a handful of excellent songs which will ultimately end up in an iTunes mixed playlist: Alright, Still; Because I Love It; Blackout; Timbaland Presents Shock Value (mea culpa BTW for my screwy Timba pan earlier in the year, not that it was particularly vicious, just slightly deaf to its pleasures)

- Album with a bunch of strong tracks which will end up in iTunes mixed playlists yet which I suspect I'll have a need every couple years or so to just let the damn thing play through: Kala

- Album I did not vote for just because I missed the boat in 2006, even though it was my most played "new" album of the year and I love it more than Kala: Clipse, Hell Hath No Fury

- Album I did not vote for because I do not approve of the singer's eyelashes: Amy Winehouse, Back to Black

- Album I did not vote for because I deeply resent having to copy and paste album titles: Justice, †

- Album I most held out hope for in 2007 which sucked even worse than I suspected deep down it was going to: Bryan Ferry, Dylanesque

MY GIRL WANTS TO PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR: Top 25

In general, and as usual (per the last few years, specifically), I much prefer female singers over male singers, somewhat prefer synthesizers over guitars, and almost always favour pop ambition over indie weariness. Of course these dichotomies don't hold up at all under severe scrutiny, but as general markers of my taste, they'll do.
