You are doing a heck of a joib Nickie.

social_crimer on Jul 18, 2008

Today's vodka is much less problematic. Thank you!

social_crimer on Jul 10, 2008

Hey, what happened to the "skyline"?

Calypso on Jun 17, 2008

Mr. Denton, sir, I do not pretend to understand the art of empire building and running, nor do I have the cojones to tell anyone what to do, least of all you, in their own house, but I was just wondering if you might intercede on behalf of one In Other News with your servant Ketch. While I, too, am guilty of being long-winded, In Other News was also brilliantly witty. And everyday he/she/it is gone, I fear for my own safety. I'm sure that upon ION's return, I, too, might learn how to finally distill a thought to its essence.

Nick, you're sexy, let's go out sometime!

TheologicalSong on May 20, 2008

darn. that was supposed to be "private". guess I didn't click the box in time.

TheologicalSong on May 20, 2008

I'd love to do something like this for you, Nick. whether or not I can do this one depends on the timing. also, I don't have a press pass of my own, currently. not sure what's needed in this case.

we have some mutual acquaintances, by the way!

hope you're great...

warmly,
"TheologicalSong"

Not everyone, Narnio.

narnio on Mar 27, 2008

Wow, you're like the "Tom" of gawker commenters. Everyone gets one!

BalknChain on Mar 18, 2008

I love you, Nick!!!

Dusty in the Wind on Mar 11, 2008

Thanks for following me. My first follower. I'm flattered.

Unless you follow everyone, in which case... well... still flattered, but now feeling suitably foolish as well.

BalknChain on Mar 10, 2008

Thanks for the star, Nick. Although, someone asked who I bl*w to get it. [insert laugh here since lol has been relegated to non-use cliche status]

Nick,

Forensic evidence suggests NTJ is the person now posting earnestly and incessantly at HuffPo as one NicoleAnonymous. From which she is also periodically banned, only to be reinstated. I don't have (nor have strenuously sought, since I'm just not terribly clever) Gawker comment privileges, so I can't post this in the comments. But lest any Gawker staffer stand accused of being NTJ, I thought I'd offer evidence to the contrary, to wit these HuffPo comments:

On a post about Denton and commenters at Gawker:

``NicoleAnonymous (See profile | I'm a fan of NicoleAnonymous)
I used to be a commentator there. Don't ask - it's a long story. I found it by accident.
``Anyway he kicked me out and wouldn't let me come back because they said I'm stupid and boring, I don't get their jokes and I ruined it for everyone. I definitely wasn't paid to be there. ''

``Can I complain about something off-topic?
``I hate it when people post something with about 5,000 words in it so that nobody can see their responses without searching for them. This is a place for DISCUSSIONS where people offer their OPINIONS, not a place to copy and paste LONG ARTICLES from somewhere else.'' posted 03/07/2008 at 19:30:55

Dangerous Cracks Appearing in Job Market
``I almost feel as though it's a waste of time coming here anymore. If they want to moderate everything then that is their decision but they take so long so approve posts that by the time they appear you can't even remember it or there will be hundreds of posts waiting for approval and then they approve them all at once which disrupts the flow of the discussion.
``But this is also a place where they can't figure out that a light colored font against a grey background is difficult to read so I don't expect much from them. posted 03/07/2008 at 14:15:42

And, this, following a long NTJesque disquisition on anti-Semitism in response to a post on "Judith Regan Sued By Her Lawyers":

posted 03/04/2008 at 21:09:59
``I said something yesterday about how the Israelis will rationalize killing civilians but then turn around and say Arabs are evil when they do the same thing. A few minutes after I posted it I received a message from Huffington Post that I was banned from here. I don't even know why I can post today because I never asked them to take me back. It doesn't matter to me if I'm not allowed here.''

(Why, why do I burn time and brain cells on such an investigation? Oh, Farceide, no, no, this cannot go on.)

Regards,

Yr faithful fan, Farceide

Nick Denton-- have you finally driven Julia Allison from the internet?

SchmatSchmaymon on Mar 2, 2008

"Always liable to misinterpretation" should really trump "Media gossip and pop culture round the clock"

Are we better than everyone because we don't post under an alias? Umyeahhhhhhhhh we are.

lululemming on Jan 15, 2008

Have you noticed this? http://gawker.com/commenter/raychie/ It's amazing.

Re: your Waverly Inn post and your response to my wisecrack You're a good-humored (pardon me - good-humoured) chap. I'll stick around here for a while longer. I know that means a lot to you. And honestly - just want to make sure you know that a lot of us do care about what goes on around here.
