I had one at some point and then it vanished under mysterious circumstances. I'm not sure when. It's not like it offends me or anything; probably just some oversight. Either that or someone doesn't like me!

Did your Sandals-inspired longing have anything to do with that Kelly Clarkson song?

Gets me every time. Oh, the shame.

Thanks for the kind words -- years ago (Internet 1.0), I was asked to prep a presentation explaining to the creative staff why there wouldn't be any bonuses even though we were collecting record revenue each month (once everyone found out it was because of the dozens of Aeron chairs, everyone said "I'd rather have the money than the chair"), I told my boss I would only need five minutes, since the entirety of my presentation would be: "This is how it works: we charge clients as much as we can get away with and pay you as little as possible. Welcome to capitalism." The hardest thing to do with young people, esp creative industry folks, if finding a way to get them to understand that negotiation and information affects both their compensation and their creative work, and how to build skills to increase both (lacking any persuasive skills myself, I tell everyone the single most important thing you can know about a company is payroll info -- if you have to steal it, get it; nothing else helps your compensation growth more than that).
